HIGHLIGHTS OF THE HISTORY DEPARTMENT

The Department offers History for the Intermediate and Degree courses.

The syllabus for the Intermediate level is prescribed by the A.P.Board of Intermediate education.

Undergraduate Course :

1. a. Travel and Tourism courses offered during V & VI Semesters for B.A. students is the first of its kind in Visakhapatnam. This is introduced in view of its relevance to job placement, since Visakhapatnam is becoming more prominent on the tourist map of Andhra Pradesh and India. As there are no books in Telugu for this course, the department prepares the reading material from various sources.
   
   b. The department has modified the Indian Heritage and Culture (Foundation course) to suit the present needs of the society and youth in particular. Stress has been given to the Ethical/Value aspects of India through out the ages and cultural aspects of ancient and modern India by highlighting art, sculpture and dance forms as against the Political History, since the target group i.e. the students is varied since they belong to both Arts and Science departments.
   
2. Historical visit, thematic exhibition and project work in VI Semester are the unique features of teaching adopted by the department.
